About Me

I am a mother to two daughters – L who is 7 years old and K who is 4 years old. I started homeschooling my eldest daughter when she was 2.5 years old when we would read books to her mostly and talk about anything that interested her. I have also been teaching her to read since she was a baby though she only started reading beginner books towards the end of 2010. Originally I was working mornings only as a veterinarian but now I work part time as a locum vet and spend most of my time with the children. I fit this work in around the homeschooling and we just take breaks from the homeschooling when I am working.

I am also a type 1 diabetic with hypothyroidism and along with doses of depression this affects my life and our homeschooling to some extent. I may at some stage blog about how things have to be arranged to cope with these so that my children are learning and we all remain safe. Mostly though I leave it in God’s hands.

I have been homeschooling my children now for almost 5 years, although only 3 of those have been required homeschooling. Some days are still very chaotic for me. I decided to start my own blog to keep track of what we are doing and to show that amidst the chaos things do still get done and we do have fun.

us again

I am a Christian and believe in a protecting, loving God. For me teaching my children about God is of utmost importance – I want both my girls to have a wonderful relationship with Him and to lean on Him in everything they do, knowing that he loves and cares for them.

Hello! Joyfulmama here from the well trained minds forum. Just thought I’d say hi and let you know I popped over. I’m also diabetic, though just found out I’m not type 1, but MODY2. Thanks for your encouraging tips over on the forum!
